The 3/32 slider is a fantastic option if you are just beginning to curl but you feel very comfortable on the ice...
What does the thickness have to do with speed?
Curling ice is pebbled and a thin slider, being less rigid, encounters more drag as it goes over the pebble. A thicker slider is more rigid and tends to ride on the tip of the pebble, encountering less drag. Therefore the thicker the slider the more "slippery" it is on the ice, requiring less leg drive. Our only caution is if you have concern about your balance on the ice it might be best to start with a thinner slider.
